I’m always fascinated by people who attempt to capture unscripted truth onscreen. That is precisely what filmmaker Matthew Leslie did when he made “Deadhorse,” an epic documentary about a Chicago-area church youth group that strives for a spiritual reawakening in the foreboding wilderness of Alaska. Leslie’s impressive résumé also includes producing and directing the reality TV show, “Seasons Greetings,” as well as editing the Comcast Network sports series, “All In.” He also co-founded the production company Arx Axiom, which provides both video production services and equipment rentals in the Windy City area. Our wide-ranging conversation explores the hurdles facing modern independent filmmakers, which makes this the perfect podcast to kick off 2013.
The program was produced at Columbia College Chicago. Technical producer was Rebecca Nystedt. An Indie Outlook production.
